What About Us?

Before I head off to my Tricky Tray, I have to sit down and write.  For days, something has been swirling in my head and as of last night and the articles on our country and its continued immorality, I cannot sit back and allow my opinion not to be heard.

I am a steadfast Pro-Lifer. I have said it before. I will say it again. When my husband and I married we wanted two children. Two. Perfect number. You can take care of one, I will take care of the other. As we grew in our faith, we made some very difficult changes and since that time have welcomed an additional three pregnancies. I will say its not been easy. We continue to struggle with this decision we made to welcome the children God feels belong in our family.  We hear comments from strangers, and what is worse, comments from family.  Two years ago, a family member spoke to our two oldest about how one must only procreate to replace oneself and their spouse so that our earth is not overpopulated.  Our third child sat unknowingly as she played with blocks on her first birthday.  I was devastated that someone would allow the ease of life to take over the gift of life even if accepting that gift comes with its challenges.

In the beginning of the year, we began hearing continued word regarding the Health Care Plan and President Obama's National Health Care regime.  I disagree with it.  On many accounts.  However, I became utterly incensed when I learned that this plan would make all organizations, private and public provide health care that included contraception and birth control for all.  This goes against our Constitution.  On top of this coercion, our government, should it have its way, will be able to punish Physician's choosing to practice in an all Catholic Hospital or practice should they not perform elective abortions.

Recently, a young woman by the name of Sandra Fluke testified in Washington regarding the current and upcoming policies in our country to support health services and birth control practices within all companies and organizations.  Though she's a third year law student, well spoken and put together, I ask, why she had the time, when people like myself are silent.  Ms. Fluke, I disagree with Rush Limbaugh in calling you names, however, like him, being a conservative Catholic, I find myself appalled by the thought that you would wish to place your ideals on others who disagree with your beliefs.  Should our Catholic or Christian organizations decide not to include birth control in their Health Care Plan, it should be their choice.  They are private industry, and should you not agree with their ideals, perhaps you should no consider working for their organization.

As I said, I am a steadfast Pro-Lifer.  I believe life begins at conception and ends with natural death when God chooses.  This includes the death penalty.  This includes war.  I am against both. Its not the popular belief.  Its not the popular vote, and I agree should someone murder my child, it would be so hard to allow God to handle the perpetrators life when he or she passes naturally, but I commit to making sure that I would.

When is our government going to listen intently to what we as conservatives have to say?  When are they going to listen to our beliefs?  When does a young, intelligent, committed Catholic Woman get to say her peace in front of Congress?  For its not just the liberal bodies that deserve their time.  I admit,  its not easy to have four kids 7 and under.  Its scary to know that another child could join our family at any time and it would challenge us, but it would be God's will.  I admit that but I am living for a life after this life and that life includes eternal love from God.
